Meet the Coign leadership team and staff

Steve Petch
Steve Petch - Lead Elder

Steve is the new Lead Elder of the Coign Church. Previously he led the leadership team of Grace Church, Chichester, a young and vibrant multi-site church with a vision to make a difference in Chichester, Bognor Regis, Midhurst and the surrounding areas. He is married to Jo and they have three children. 

Steve also serves on the leadership team of Commission, part of the Newfrontiers family of churches.


David Maskell – Elder

David oversees our specialist pastoral care, including prayer counselling and the Lifeshapers discipleship course.  He is also responsible for our social action ministries such as Way In, Cheer for lone parents, prison work and Money Advice etc..  As well as church based social action, David is Chairman of the Steering Group for Woking Foodbank.  Before joining the full time staff in 2001, David had a successful career in Civil Engineering Consultancy and was Head of Water Engineering for a large international company. David is married to Tina, with two daughters at university. He enjoys fell walking, fly fishing and playing the guitar.  As an ex prop forward, he loves rugby, although these days that is from an armchair.

Dean Guy - Elder

Dean has lived in Woking since the age of 8 and is married to Ros and have been members of the Coign Church since 1997. They consider it great being part of a dynamic and diverse community of people. They have 3 sons, two of whom have left home. Dean works as part of the leadership team at the Coign Church, while together  they provide foster care to children from babies to teenagers.

Anything to do with Music or Sport ticks Dean’s box and Ros loves working with animals, particularly training dogs as guide or assistance dogs.

Dub Everitt - Elder

Dub was the Sales Director of Benross Golf for 17 years, before joining the Coign staff in January 2015, and became an Elder in November 2016.

His main role at the Coign is overseeing all areas of Outreach – fuelled by his passion to reveal the love of God to people from all types of backgrounds. He also oversees the 20s 30s age group, involving “ALIVE” Worship Nights and Social events.

Dub’s biggest sporting passion is football. Having played for Leyton Orient and several non-league clubs, his career peaked as Player Manager of Shepperton Pumas – the team he formed through Jubilee Church Shepperton for lads from the local area!

He married Tanya in June 2003. They currently have 2 children, Abbie & Will, but are looking forward to introducing a new baby brother or sister to them in April 2017!


Nathan Silvester
Nathan Silvester – Youth Worker

Nathan started working for the Coign in September 2008, heading up the Youth Team. In 2005 he spent a year in Clarens, South Africa, serving a church in youth work and several other areas of ministry. He then returned to the UK to work as a financial administrator.

He is passionate about seeing young men and women running for Jesus in their lives and is eager to see  the Church built up and taking hold of God's promises. Nathan is married to Julianna and also enjoys both playing and watching sport.


Karen Patrick
Karen Patrick - Office Manager

Prior to joining the staff Karen worked in Supply Chain Management/Logistics environments.
Karen has always been involved with serving at the Coign. Currently she is a Key Club leader, heads up the operations team, responsible for setting up HGW’s on Sunday mornings, the hosting team and is part of the core team for Westpoint. Away from church she loves going out for a walk, coffee or food with friends or taking her nephew and niece out for the day.


Peter Leach - Administrator

Joining the staff in 2010 Peter is the church administrator and he leads the production crew. A keen England rugby supporter, do not try to contact him during the Autumn series or the Six-Nations matches in the Spring. Married to Sha with four wonderful children he is now enjoying seeing his grand-children grow and develop!


Ben Martin - Children's Worker

Ben's whole life changed in 2008 when he encountered Jesus while driving home. Prior to joining the staff, his career ranged from estate agent to mad scientist to chef. He then spent several years in retail. He now runs the children's ministry for those aged between three and twelve. He has a passion for seeing children and young people grow in knowledge of and love for Christ. Ben loves travelling to crazy places and seeing how God is moving there. He also likes a good game of scrabble and a nice cup of tea.


Jenny MarshallJenny Marshall - Pastoral Worker

After completing a voluntary year with the church with FP Impact in 2013/14, Jenny joined the staff in December 2014.  Jenny’s passion is to serve those who are less able and to support those in need.  She will be getting involved in various aspects of pastoral care and social action.  Jenny loves sport, particularly football and tennis so may be distracted a little during Wimbledon fortnight!. She also enjoys doing something crafty such as sewing.
